My father in law has an Xplorer 300 1998 that just seized up on him. I already spec'd out the parts for a top end......hoping that is all it needs. Won't know till we get into it.

Any of you out there that have torn into one of these things and can provide any pointers??

Easiest way to pull a polaris ATV engine? I assume its all pretty straight forward, but being a DOO guy and not a polaris guy this will be a first for me.

I've done an old Cyclone 250 and a Scrambler 400. Top end was easy on both but everything else on the stupid things started falling apart as soon as I got them done. My suggestion would be to do the top end and then sell it.

Thanks.....i think this one is a non-seller. Its just a farm vehicle. When his dad passed he left it to him along with the truck and so it has sentimental value. Also it has a plow on the front and just clears the driveway. Gets the occasional ride up the canyon when deer hunting. Its just one of those get around, keep around forever type vehicles if you know what i mean.

TTT- I got the engine torn down this weekend.........turns out the carb boot hardened and cracked and leaned it out. Crank and connecting rod are fine. Just need new piston and rings and the cylinder honed. Stop by the dealer to grab a piston and then off to Felts to get machined.

NOOOOO!!! Don't go to Felts. If you want it done ridiculously fast and perfect you need to go to MRM in Syracuse. This is formerly DAB racing, but now run by Mike and Robert!! These guys have done all my bore jobs and usually get them back in less than 24 HOURS!!! They are great guys. Trust me you won't regret it. Tell them Patrick at 4 Seasons Powersports sent you.

Patrick......thanks for the lead. Ended up talking to Mike out there and he quoted me 60 for a single cylinder.

Felts is 37.60 with tax! This economy I gotta take that one. It may be a "get what ya pay for" scenario but I will give em a shot.

I understand. Hopefully Felts does a good job. I know alot of guys use them them so I suppose they can't be screwing everyone's stuff up. Let me know how it turns out. I'm curious to see how the port chamfers look.
