So this is really nothing new for me, but once again I have received a bad Crankshaft from Hot Rods. I very rarely use Hot Rods unless I have to, but unfortunately I needed a crankshaft on short notice and Hot Rods was my quickest option. Well the crank is CRAP as usual. In fact I don't think I have ever got a Hot Rods crank that was satisfactory. Every crank I have ever used from them caused moderate to severe vibration. The crank I received today was so bad it could not even be installed due to improper bearing installation from the factory. They are cheap, cheap , cheap, they use bearings from Taiwan which kinda sums it all up. I just thought I would post this thread to spread the word and see if anyone else has had a poor experience with this company.

I have been using Wiseco Crankshafts almost religiously and have never had issues. The best part is that Wiseco Cranks are much more affordable and they used Japanese bearings Sounds like I just need to stop relying on Hot Rods even when I feel like I have no other option. They can't be relied on.

Hot Rods needs to make some changes.

what engine are you working on and in it a stock stroke

some of the cranks are coming balanced from Hot Rod

The last crank I ordered was for a Rotax 720 twin watercraft engine. The cranks that had the vibration issues were all for CR250's. I typically rebuild my own single cranks, but I dont have a RCE jig to do Honda tin Cranks.

I do not work on watercaft so i am of no help there

i have used trx250r, trx450r, yfz450, ltr450, raptor 660 and raptor 700 hot rod cranks with no problems.

i had a wisco crank a customer brought to me to install in a trx250r the output splines were cut wrong off 1/2 of a spline i will not use wisco cranks.

hot rot bearings are not good i have seen them .002 to .003 loose on the crank
journals. is this what you are seeing Patrick. i only use oem bearings

as for rebuilds i send them to falicon or crank works.

If you guys want TOP NOTCH help with anything cranks, get in touch with Jeremy at JJ Machinery in Springville. Will re-man them with OEM bearings and at an extremely affordable price. Have an 800 crank from a skidoo down there now. He deals with ATV's, Motorcycles, Watercraft, Snowmobiles of all makes and models.

He knows his stuff and does AWESOME work!
